The Standard excess ranges from $700 to $2,300 depending on the State or Territory the car is kept and the amount you selected to insure your car for when you purchased or renewed your Comprehensive Car insurance policy.
For Third Party Property Damage policies, the Standard excess varies based on which State or Territory you’ve noted for where the car is kept.
Your Standard excess can be found in your Insurance Schedule. Click on this direct link to login, view and obtain your policy documents.
Additional excesses may also apply such as:
1. Age excess if the driver is under 25 years old: $600
2. Unlisted household member or unlisted regular driver excess if the driver lives at the same address or regularly drives your car but wasn’t listed on the policy as a driver: $1,950
The unlisted household member or unlisted regular driver excess will not apply to learner drivers as long as another driver listed on the policy is a passenger in your car.
Claims Payment examples and information about Excesses can be found in our Premiums, Excesses and Claims Guide (PED)
Who counts as a ‘regular’ driver’?
A regular driver is anyone who usually drives your car at least once a week, or anyone who is driving your car in connection with ride-share services.
