If your car isn’t where you left it, the first thing to do is report it to the Police. If they can’t give you a copy of their Police Report immediately, they’ll give you an incident number. That number can be given to us if you don't have the report.
You can now report the theft by clicking here to lodge your claim online. The police report itself can be uploaded as a file during this process. If you only have the incident number you can type it in the police/emergency services section. Once you have reported the claim online, we will get in touch with you to discuss your claim in more detail
Here’s a brief summary of what happens next:
If your car hasn’t been found after 14 days of the theft being reported to us, we’ll count it as being ‘unrecovered’. We’ll pay you the amount you’re covered for with as little fuss, and as much haste as we can.
If the police call you within the 14 day period to say your car has been found:
- Please tell us. We’ll arrange to have the car checked out fully before we return it to you. If it’s damaged we’ll repair it.
If the police call you after the 14 day period to say your car has been found, and we’ve paid you your total loss payment, please tell us. We're the new owners and it is our responsibility to secure the vehicle.
