First things first, it’s important to make sure that you and everyone else involved are okay. Stay away from the traffic and stand on the footpath, or the side of the road. Call 000 if anyone is injured or the road is blocked.
If you can, exchange details with the other driver. This includes their:
• name
• address
• phone number
• registration number, and
• insurer (if they have one)
Then, if it’s safe to do so, take photos of the damage (including any damage to property, poles, fences and bikes), and the driver’s licence of the other driver and witnesses. Also, try to obtain the names and phone numbers of any witnesses or emergency service workers on the scene.
If you need a tow, please call and we’ll arrange one for you 24/7. We’ll cover the reasonable costs to tow your car (if it can’t be driven safely) to our repairer or anywhere else we have nominated or agreed to.
After that, you’ll be ready to start the claims process online.
